Alternate Versions for
Star Burst - Last Contact (1996-2003)

  • The team video premiere was screened from an anamorphic 1:1.77 aspect ratio version including rendered subtitles for the Rotisseranians on the director's widescreen TV.
  • A subtitle-free, but still anamorphic version was used to produce the MPEG-2 stream for the DVD, where all subtitles are encoded in a DVD subtitle stream, naturally.
  • A version including subtitles but letterboxed to 4:3 standard PAL was distributed both to the composer as first preview of the final picture and employed for the premiere on a big screen via a video beamer which was unable to unsqueeze the anamorphic version.
  • The team preview included a long-used 'temporary' soundtrack score featuring various Star Trek and other movie's original scores (which is included on the DVD, still).
  • The premiere and internet version employ the originally written score by Peter Aufderhaar.
  • All so far distributed versions run exactly 29 minutes. Anyway, there are plans to cut a 22.5 minute version (mainly without the Men-In-Black-dance [for copyright reasons], nearly all opening logos and the rolling end credits segment) for possible broadcast within a half-our television slot with commercial brakes.
